I now have mission in life! It's to dispel all the old notions about felt.
It doesn't have to be thick and uncomfortable to wear. Nor is it the flimsy craft felt that we were given in the
3rd grade.

Felted fabric may be used for just about anything you can
imagine. Look at some of the products on the Fiber Art page for some ideas. There are three standard weights available.
Thicker rug weights can be custom ordered, along with decorative fabric designs (call or e-mail for info). Laminated
felt is a process that produces a premium quality fabric that is light weight and very flexible. The fiber is felted
onto silk chiffon, with the fibers migrating right through the silk. The silk will be visible on the back side of
light weight felt. You can order black or white silk, which will accept the same dye as alpaca fiber, if you later
decide to dye the fabric. You should be familiar with dying protein fibers if you are going to attempt to do this.
I
have natural or dyed colors and color blends. Color matching is available with a sample color provided. I use Prochem Wash-Fast
and Sabraset colors.
All felted yardage is approximately 35-38 inches wide with the maximum continuous
length about 4 yards. Due to the variability of shrinkage during the felting process, all measurments vary. All
felt is fulled and steam pressed, ready to be cut and sewn.
Custom
orders are welcome and encouraged with
a minimum one yard order. I do a few shows
each year and I keep a selection of fabrics on hand. Generally when I run out of interesting stuff, I make some more interesting
stuff. Each run of fabric is unique to the next. Small fabric samples are available, call or e-mail to request.
To order, call or e-mail the contact information
at the bottom of the page. Visa &
Mastercard orders by phone only.
