Longbranch Fiber Farm’s Breeding Program

Don’t be fooled by our farm being a "fiber farm." It is meant to imply that Elsa Leyden is a fiber artist and is providing a living for the critters here, with their fiber. It does not mean, as many assume, that we are not a breeding farm. Not only are we a breeding farm, we are selecting for the highest quality in breeding stock. As you look over the males we offer below, realize that several of our foundation breeding females are out of Peruvian Demetrio, Peruvian Yupanqui, and Accoyo Peruvian Gatay. We now have second generations from Biscotti that will be bred with Midas and Omni. If we ever get off of the farm and actually enter a halter or fleece show... well, move over blue ribbon winners!

We have a little different philosophy about breeding on our farm. It is one that is practiced by many other livestock breeders but not most alpaca breeders. Rather than breeding each female to a different male from another farm, we prefer to purchase a high quality male and use him on our farm. We didn’t get into this business to send the ladies with their new babies to another farm for them to enjoy. We like to watch over our herd and keep them here.

For information about hiring one of our boys, give us a call or e-mail. We are pretty flexible and will consider mobile breeding to certain areas. If you would like to bring your female here, she will be treated as one of our own and receive the highest quality care.

Longbranch Fiber Farm Presents for your selection:

Biscotti

Sire: PPPeruvian Royal Fawn
Dam: 6Peruvian Dona Leonila
DOB: April 10, 2000
Breeding Fee: $1,200

Biscotti is outstanding! He is the son of the famous Peruvian Royal Fawn and half brother to Dom Lucilio, who sold for the record $480,000 at auction in 2004. He bares a striking resemblance to both. We bought Biscotti when he was nine months old and no one on the West Coast had even heard of Royal Fawn.

Biscotti has not been in the halter show circuit. (We don’t get out much...) So, we have not advertised him. He began breeding 2004. We have ten of his crias and they are all outstanding. The true test of a good breeding male? Are his cria better than their parents?! And they are! We liked the results so much, we rebred all of our females to Biscotti the next year, expecting more fantastic results and we got them.

Biscotti is medium fawn with extraordinary luster and minimal guard hair. At five years old he is holding his fleece character and staple.

Premier’s Midas Touch

Sire: Snowmass Peruvian Escobar
Dam: Snowmass Peruvian Angelica
DOB: July 10, 2000
Breeding Fee: $1,200

Midas is new here. We just purchased Midas in the Spring of 2005. His father, Snowmass Peruvian Escobar was purchased by one of Australia’s leading alpaca breeders, who searched for only the best. We are very pleased to be adding Midas’ genetics to our future.

Midas has many ribbons both in halter and fleece shows (the Millers do get out a lot!). I have seen fleece samples and photos of Midas’ cria and they are impressive. We have three crias from Midas from 2006 and they are some of the best crias I've seen.

Midas is white with excellent fleece, character and staple.

Premier’s Omni

Sire: PPeruvian Vengador
Dam: Snowmass Don Julio’s Prestige
DOB: June 25, 2000
Breeding Fee: $1,200

Omni came with Midas. We got to the farm and couldn’t decide. We got home and decided. Then, we talked to the Millers and changed our minds. We thought about it some more and I just kept hearing this little voice "don’t miss out on Omni." I tend to listen to those little voices. So, after many pages of numbers, math and figuring (not my area of expertise) we decided it was in the best interest of our farm to buy them both.

Omni also comes to us with many ribbons, both in halter and fleece shows. He has been traveling with Midas on the Miller’s tour. He did not let us down. 2006 delivered four crias out of Omni and we have great expectations from them all.

Omni has many famous relatives. Vengador’s list would fill several pages. His brothers are famous in their own right on his dam’s side. Premier’s Absolute and Premier’s Rubio and his little brother, Premier’s Resolute has hit the show circuit this year and is cuter than anything!

Omni is white with excellent character and staple.
